History

Stroud Building Society was formed in 1935 following the renaming of Stroud Provident Benefit Building Society. In 1985, it accepted a transfer of engagements from Bristol Economic Building Society before merging with Swindon Permanent Building Society in 1986 to form Stroud & Swindon Building Society.
