Wellington, Wiveliscombe, Milverton & West of England Permanent Benefit Building Society was established in 1857 and was renamed Wellington (Somerset) & District Building Society in 1962. It later transferred its engagements to Britannia Building Society in 1982 and is now part of Coventry Building Society.
