Wellington (Somerset) & District Building Society was established in 1857 as Wellington, Wiveliscombe, Milverton & West of England Permanent Benefit Building Society and was renamed in 1962. It later transferred its engagements to Britannia Building Society in 1982 and is now part of Coventry Building Society.
