History

Britannia Building Society was established in 1909 as Golders Green Building Society and was renamed in 1946. It was subsequently renamed Oldbury Britannia Building Society in 1955 and later transferred its engagements to Leek, Westbourne & Eastern Counties Building Society in 1974. Through subsequent mergers and acquisitions, it is now part of Coventry Building Society.
